Where we work

Fractional HVAC marketing management in British Columbia

BC is really two HVAC markets: a mild, wet southwest coast and a colder Interior and North. A BC marketing plan needs two calendars, a careful hand with CleanBC rebate claims and clean records of who owns which accounts.

Written by Ali Sedighi, MBALast updated:

British Columbia is our home province and one of the more complicated places to run HVAC marketing well. Winter on the coast near Vancouver and Victoria is mostly rain and mild temperatures; go inland or north and the heating season gets far longer and harder. Natural gas and electricity each heat a large share of homes, and the province's main rebate program changed its rules in mid-2026. A fractional marketing manager in BC spends a lot of time keeping campaigns, budgets and claims in step with those differences.

HVAC.Management manages marketing for BC heating and cooling companies. We aren't an HVAC contractor and don't interpret BC's technical rules; we link to the regulators.

The BC market and its buyers

Most BC HVAC demand sits in Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley, with Kelowna and Victoria-area municipalities such as Saanich as the next major centres.

That matters for planning in a few concrete ways:

  • Metro Vancouver municipalities such as Vancouver, Surrey, Burnaby, Richmond and Coquitlam are dense and competitive. Paid search costs are high, so cost per booked job has to be watched closely by municipality.
  • The Fraser Valley, including Abbotsford, is far enough from the core that it usually deserves its own budget line and its own service-area pages.
  • Kelowna and the Interior sit in the colder part of the province, so the heating season starts earlier and runs longer than on the coast.
  • Vancouver Island, with Victoria and Saanich, is separated from the mainland by water, so service areas and campaigns are usually managed on their own.

The proof from our own BC work is public: GasBoilers.ca, a gas-boiler division built for CANRO Heat, serves 26+ BC communities, and BCWide.ca tripled its leads in 90 days.

Seasons and fuel mix

Roughly two BC homes in five heat mainly with natural gas (42% in Statistics Canada figures for 2023), and a little over a third (36%) mainly with electricity.

For a marketing plan, that split means gas furnace and boiler services and electric heat pump services both deserve budget, but in different places and at different times. On the coast, heating demand starts later and is less urgent, and heat pumps carry both heating and cooling messages. In the Interior and the North, fall is a sharper peak and no-heat response matters more. We set the seasonal calendar by region within BC rather than for the province as a whole; our planning service shows how.

Regulators a BC marketing manager should know

These are the bodies your marketing may reference or your customers may ask about. We link to them; we don't advise on compliance.

  • Technical Safety BC is the body that issues gas and electrical contractor licences in BC, and its remit includes boilers and refrigeration.
  • SkilledTradesBC runs Skilled Trades Certification, which now applies to trades that include gasfitters and refrigeration and air conditioning mechanics.
  • WorkSafeBC is the workers' compensation board.
  • Consumer Protection BC handles consumer complaints and certain sales practices.

A practical management point: when vendors write "licensed" or "certified" on your website or ads, make sure someone at your company has confirmed the exact wording is accurate.

Programs your ads may mention

Program claims are where BC HVAC ads most often go out of date. As of October 2026:

  • The CleanBC Energy Savings Program, for income-qualified households, changed for invoices dated on or after 6 July 2026. Some rebates were dropped, electric-to-heat-pump upgrades are now limited to the lowest income level, and the highest level is restricted to ground-oriented homes moving off gas, propane or oil.
  • The Home Renovation Rebate Program is still listed for households that aren't income-qualified, but we couldn't confirm current amounts, so don't quote them.
  • Under a federal agreement announced on 29 June 2026, BC Hydro and FortisBC deliver no-cost retrofits for several thousand lower-income households.

Programs change, so confirm terms with the administrator before advertising them. We keep a dated program list for every BC client and review it at each monthly review.

How we'd manage marketing for a BC HVAC company

A typical BC engagement starts with a stack audit, because Lower Mainland companies often have several vendors from different eras. Then we split the plan into coast and Interior calendars, measure cost per booked job by municipality, review every rebate claim against the current program pages, and brief vendors from one scope each. If you're in BC and want to talk, call, text or email; we're in the same time zone.

Frequently asked questions

Can our ads still mention CleanBC heat pump rebates?

Only with care. The Energy Savings Program changed for invoices dated on or after 6 July 2026, with some rebates removed and tighter income limits on certain upgrades. Check the current terms on Better Homes BC before any ad goes live, and link to the program rather than quoting amounts from memory.

Should Lower Mainland and Interior campaigns be separate?

Usually, yes. The heating season, the urgency of no-heat calls and the mix of gas and electric homes differ enough that one shared budget tends to overspend in one area and starve the other.

Are you based in BC?

Yes. HVAC.Management is headquartered in Vancouver, and some of our published HVAC work is in BC, such as GasBoilers.ca, which serves 26+ BC communities.
